چکیده

In an experimental study in rats, cimetidine, a potent gastric-acid inhibitor (50 mg/kg, .p.o.) reduced the macromolecular glycoprotein level of glandular stomach. The administration of cimetidine at a dose of 50 mg/kg, which inhibited the gastric lesions induced by hypoxia (13% O2 for 6 hours), reduced the glandular stomach level of high molecular glycoproteins in animals receiving a low oxygen load as well as in those receiving no load. It was assumed that the reduction of macromolecular glycoprotein accelerated the gastric lesion induced by hypoxia load in rats and that cimetidine inhibited the lesions through a process other than that of recovering the glycoprotein level in the glandular stomach.

COMPARISON OF ANTIULCER EFFECTS OF TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS WITH CIMETIDINE AND OMEPRAZOLE IN RATS

The antiulcer effects of different tricyclic antidepressants (trimipramine, doxepin, imipramine, and amitriptyline) in comparison with those of cimetidine, pirenzepine and omeprazole were investigated in male rats with acute gastric ulcer. Acute gastric ulcer was induced by oral administration of O. 6N HCl solution, 1 mL/rat. Pretreatment of animals with doxepin, trimipramine, amitriptylin...

Effect of capsaicin and cimetidine on the healing of acetic acid induced gastric ulceration in the rat.

BACKGROUND Capsaicin protects the gastric mucosa against experimental injury while capsaicin desensitisation reduces the rate of gastric ulcer healing. The effect of exogenous capsaicin on gastric ulcer healing has not to date been reported. AIM/METHOD To investigate the effect of capsaicin, cimetidine, and in combination, given intragastrically in the healing of acetic acid induced chronic g...

Effect of esophagus distension on gastric blood flow, gastrin and somatostatin secretion in rat

Abstract Introduction: There are many studies about the inhibitory effect of the esophageal distention (ED) on gastric motility. Recently, it has been shown that ED decreases the gastric secretions. It is well established that the inhibitory effect of ED is mediated by activation of vago-vagal inhibitory reflex. However, there is not any investigation about the effect of the reflex on the gast...

The Inhibitory Effect of Ziziphora clinopodioides Lam. on Gastric Acid Output at Basal, Vagotomized and Vagal Stimulated Conditions in Rat

Objective(s) Ziziphora clinopodioides Lam. is a plant widely used in Iranian traditional medicine for gastrointestinal disorders. Several reports have demonstrated antibacterial (Helicobacteria pylori), antioxidant and anti‌inflammatory properties of Z. clinopodioides. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of aqueous- ethanol extract of Z. clinopodioides on rat’s gastric acid ou...

Effect of esophageal distension on gastric secretions in rat and the possible mechanism

Introduction: The effect of esophageal distension (ED) on gastric motility has been well documented, but a few investigations have been carried out on the effect of ED on gastric secretion. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ED on gastric acid and pepsin secretion and the mechanism(s) involved. Methods: Male adult Wistar rats (200-240 g) were anesthetized with urethane (1...
